Welcome to the Borough of Pottstown and the Pottstown Downtown Improvement District Authority (PDIDA). We are excited about revitalization efforts underway within our community and invite you to come experience for yourself the new stores and existing businesses that call downtown Pottstown their home.
PDIDA is a special assessment district established almost 20 years ago to assist the central business district. In 2006, PDIDA received Main Street Program Designation through the Department of Community and Economic Development and is applying the principles of that program to “kick start” the revitalization efforts and augment the services provided by our organization. PDIDA is responsible for marketing the downtown to attract new business development and new customers to the area. We sponsor events like the Christmas Holiday activities and Schuylkill River Festival. We are responsible for keeping the streets and sidewalks clean, maintaining the flowers along High Street and managing the streetscapes (benches, trash cans, lighting). We also administer the Façade Improvement loan and grant programs.
Downtown Pottstown is positioning itself as a new destination point for the tri-county area of Montgomery, Chester and Berks Counties. Anchored by Montgomery County Community College to the West and The Hill School to the East, the downtown business district is ideally situated as the new “hub” of Pottstown. The renovation of the former Newberry Department Store in the 200 Block of High Street in to a state of the art Performing Arts Center will be a significant addition to the landscape.
Our site provides you with information on shopping and services available in downtown Pottstown as well as properties available for development. For more information about our organization or questions about downtown, please contact us.
